Founded in 2018, Tribes Press is a multilingual independent publisher rooted in community, culture, and connection.Inspired by the rich storytelling traditions of the West of Ireland and the diverse voices of contemporary Europe, we exist to bring readers powerful stories in the languages that matter most to them. We are a child-focused book publisher and specialise in inclusivity in our children’s books while also have a fantastic range of adult fiction. We publish self-help books as well, which are aimed at inspiring and empowering readers of all ages. Tribes Press is also an earth conscious book publisher committed to using papers that are sustainably sourced from manufacturers with EU Ecolabel and FSC® certification.
At Tribes Press, we believe stories are more impactful when presented in the reader’s native language. Translation is at the heart of what we do. We are committed to making literature accessible across languages, connecting Irish writerswith European audiences and amplifying European voices for readers in Ireland. By publishing multilingual editions and championing literary translation, we help stories cross borders while remaining true to their cultural roots.
Community shapes everything we publish. From our base in Galway, a city renowned for creativity and cultural exchange, we work closely with authors, translators, artists, and readers. We see publishing not as a transaction but as acollaboration. Each book we produce forms part of a wider cultural dialogue, contributing to Ireland’s literary heritage and to the evolving landscape of European writing.
Inclusivity is central to our mission. We actively seek out diverse perspectives and underrepresented voices, creating space for stories that reflect the breadth of lived experience across Ireland and Europe. Whether publishing in Irish,English, or other European languages, our aim is the same: to ensure every reader can encounter stories that feel authentic and accessible.
For authors, Tribes Press offers more than publication. We offer partnership. We combine editorial care, culturalunderstanding, and an international outlook with a deep commitment to the communities our books serve. For writers who value language, heritage, and the power of story to build bridges, Tribes Press is the natural home.
Our books have been featured in both national and local newspapers and national, local and international media fromradio to television (e.g. Irish Examiner, Sunday World, Joe Duffy show on RTÉ Radio 1, Raidió na Life, Raidió na Gaeltachta, Le Progrès, BFM Lyon). In addition to this, we attend many national and international events (e.g. International Literature Festival Dublin, London Book Fair, Frankfurter Buchmesse, The Word on the Street, Toronto) in search of authors and to build relationships within the international marketplace.
Language Policy Statement: Tribes Press recognizes the importance of delivering services in both Irish and English to adequately meet the needs of its entire customer base. Tribes Press will supply sufficient resources to implement a language policy to delivering services in both official languages. The Owner through this resolution hereby endorses efforts to implement service delivery in both official languages in all relevant areas related to the organization’s activities.
